Fake Caste Certificate Racket Busted in Assam’s Barpeta; Mastermind Arrested

Guwhati, 22nd July: A major breakthrough occurred in Assam’s Barpeta as authorities successfully dismantled a fake caste certificate racket, leading to the arrest of the main accused, Paramananda Das, on Saturday.

The illicit operation came to light when the Barpeta district administration alerted Sarbhog police about the illegal activities. Acting swiftly, the police apprehended Paramananda Das, who was identified as the mastermind behind the fraudulent scheme.

During the arrest, the police seized crucial evidence from Das’s residence in Dotra village, including 14 fake caste certificates of Other Backward Classes (OBC) and other incriminating documents.

Prompt complaints from the district administration triggered a thorough investigation into the matter, uncovering the accused’s involvement in producing and selling fake caste certificates. Taking advantage of people in need, the racket charged exorbitant amounts ranging from fifteen to twenty thousand rupees for each fraudulent certificate.

The arrest of Paramananda Das raises concerns about the scope and network of the racket, prompting authorities to believe that more individuals linked to the scam are yet to be identified and apprehended. Consequently, the police have launched a comprehensive probe to ensure all involved parties face justice.

As the investigation progresses, the public awaits further updates on the case, hoping for a thorough crackdown on fraudulent activities and appropriate punishment for all found guilty. The revelation of this racket serves as a reminder of the importance of combating such fraudulent operations that undermine the integrity of government certificates and exploit vulnerable individuals in society.
