Fake Currency Racket Busted In Assam, 2 Held

Guwahati: Two people were arrested by Nagaon Police in Assam with Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN).

This was informed by the officials on Thursday.

Reportedly, police officials conducted an operation at Dhing Gate of the district after which the duo was arrested.

The operation was carried out based on specific information of a fake currency printing den at the said location.

The two culprits were nabbed red handed during the operation.

The duo identified as Sharafat Ali and Noor Hussain, residents of Juria.

The police officials seized fake notes amount to Rs 33,52,500.

The miscreants had planned to release the notes and bring them into circulation, however, their plans were foiled, officials added.

Meanwhile, police also seized a vehicle from the possession of the two culprits.

The car had Arunachal Pradesh registration numbers raising up possibilities of an interstate racket.

The seized car had registration numbers AR 01 N 3120, police officials informed.
