Five Arrested in Connection with Dhubri Double Murder Case

Guwahati, 29th August: Advancing in the investigation of the unsettling Dhubri double murder case, Assam Police took decisive action by apprehending five individuals linked to the crime on Tuesday.

Sources reveal that among the detainees, one had served as a driver at the Raniganj Police Station in Bilasipara. The arrested driver is identified as Amir Hussain, while the others are named Aminul Haque, Afsar Ali, Hamidul Islam, and Rakidul Haque.

Details have emerged indicating that Hamidul was apprehended in Silchar, while Rakidul was captured in Hailakandi.

The chilling incident, which shook the locality, involved the heinous murder of a couple by having their throats slit in Raniganj Kurshakatti village on August 26th. The victims were Shah Jalal Sheikh, who worked as an advocate clerk at the Bilasipara sub-division court, and his wife Narzima Begum. The ruthless attack took place while they were sleeping, leaving the couple with multiple wounds in addition to fatal neck injuries.

The tragic occurrence appears to have stemmed from long-standing conflicts between families that date back to 2018.
