Guwahati: Residents of Assam’s Lanka awoke early on Tuesday to blazing flames that had consumed many commercial buildings.
According to reports, a massive fire that started today in Lanka town in Assam’s Hojai district resulted in the destruction of as many as four businesses.
The incident occurred in Islambasti. Firetenders were immediately rushed to the spot and were able to bring the flames under control with help from the locals.
Officials informed that the damage to property, which included vital documents and was estimated to be worth roughly Rs. 12 lakhs.
There have been no recorded fatalities or injuries as of yet. The cause of the fire is yet to be established, but investigation in underway, they added.
