Former Maharashtra CM Manohar Joshi Passes Away at 86

National Desk, 23rd February: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and prominent political figure, Manohar Joshi, passed away today, Friday, February 23, at the age of 86. Joshi, known for his significant contributions to Maharashtra politics, succumbed to a cardiac arrest at PD Hinduja Hospital, where he had been admitted after falling critically ill on February 21.

Joshi’s health had been a cause for concern in recent times, particularly after his hospitalization last May due to a brain haemorrhage at the same medical facility. Despite receiving extensive medical care, his health continued to deteriorate due to prolonged age-related issues.

Expressing the family’s sorrow, his son Unmesh Joshi stated, “He had been admitted to the ICU and was under observation. He experienced cardiac complications on Wednesday. He had been dealing with prolonged age-related health issues. We will be performing the last rites at Shivaji Park crematorium, and before that, the mortal remains will be brought to our house in Matunga.”

Paying tribute to the late leader, the hospital had earlier stated, “Mr. Manohar Joshi, Ex-Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was admitted at P.D. Hinduja Hospital on 21st February 2024. He suffered a cardiac event and is severely ill. He is currently in the ICU under close observation and receiving the best medical care and treatment.”
