Former NPP leader Likha Saaya appointed as new Arunachal NCP president

Northeast Desk, 19th December: The newly appointed president of Arunachal’s Nationalist Congress Party – Ajit Pawar faction is Likha Saaya, the former Arunachal State working President of the National People’s Party (NPP). Saaya, who resigned from the NPP two weeks ago, expressed his commitment to serving his constituency and state, citing a lack of authority and support from the central command of NPP as reasons for his departure.

In his statement, Saaya emphasized his dedication to building and strengthening the NPP in Arunachal but criticized the party’s leadership, particularly in Meghalaya, for a lackadaisical attitude towards other northeastern states. He highlighted the neglect of party workers in states like Arunachal and Manipur.

Opting for a new political direction, Saaya found the Nationalist Congress Party to be a more suitable alternative, especially with the opportunity to lead the NCP Arunachal unit as its state president. He believed that this decision was crucial to ensure that the hard work of himself and his supporters did not go to waste, given the perceived lack of seriousness in the leadership of the party he was previously associated with.

The alliance between the BJP and the Nationalist Congress Party, led by Ajit Pawar, showcased its strength in Arunachal through a mega rally from Donyi Polo airport to Nirjuli. This event marked the beginning of a new era for the NCP on the ground in Arunachal. Prominent figures, including Subodh Baburao Mohite, former Honourable Union Minister; National General Secretary NCP (Ajit Pawar); Sanjay Prajapati, Coordinator cum Observer, NorthEast states; Member NWCNCP (Ajit Pawar); Sushil Huidrom, National Secretary, NCP (Ajit Pawar); and Arjun Gulabrao Tilay, General Secretary, NCP Maharashtra, warmly welcomed former NPP leader Likha Saaya. Thousands of new NCP workers pledged their support for the party in the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections during the mega rally.
