Punjab: Suspected drone with contraband items recovered in Amritsar

National Desk, 19th December: Vigilant troops from the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police on December 19 intercepted a suspected drone, discovering a packet of contraband items containing Heroin near the village of Dhanoe Khurd in Amritsar.

This joint operation resulted in the seizure of the illicit items, prompting the initiation of a thorough investigation into the incident.

This isn’t the first instance of such activities in the region. On December 16, BSF troops had previously seized a drone, accompanied by suspected narcotics weighing approximately 545 grams and wrapped in yellow adhesive tape. The discovery occurred on the outskirts of Dhanoe Khurd village in the Amritsar district.

Intriguingly, a rope was found attached to the narcotics packet, leading back to a farming field adjacent to the village. The recovered drone is identified as a Quadcopter (Model – DJI Mavic 3 Classic, Made in China). These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in combating illicit activities leveraging drone technology along the border.
