Former UM Pandit Sukh Ram Passes Away at 95

Guwahati: Former Union Minister Pandit Sukh Ram breathed his last at the age of 95 in All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi today.

He’d been in the hospital from May 4, receiving treatment.

He was suffering from a brain stroke.

According to a press note issued by his grandson Anil Sharma, the senior leader suffered a brain stroke on May 4 in Manali and was rushed to AIIMS in Delhi.

Sukh Ram re-joined the Congress in 2019 after leaving the party in 2017. It was his ‘homecoming,’ as he put it.

It needs to be mentioned that he had previously worked in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology from 1993 to 1996. He served in the Lok Sabha from the Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh and was a five-time MLA in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, winning three Lok Sabha elections.
