Fresh Violence in Manipur Ahead of Amit Shah’s Visit, Angry Mob Storms into BJP MLA’s House
National Desk, 28 May: Fresh violence broke out in different areas of Manipur days before Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the violent hit state after it was reported that Kuki militants using high-tech weapons set fire to numerous homes in the Serou and Sugunu districts.
According to reports, three civilians have been injured in the Serou area during an ongoing clash between state forces and Kuki insurgents.
There have also been reports of home fires in the foothills near Sekmai (about 10 kilometres north of Imphal).
Meanwhile, an enraged mob broke into K Raghumani’s home who is a BJP MLA.
Reportedly, Kuki militants allegedly set fire to Meitei house in Serou, Sugnu, Tangjeng, Terakhongsangbi and Sekmai last night.
Three Manipur commandos were killed as a result of the subsequent gunfire while fighting Kuki terrorists in Serou.
Other villages close to foothills have also reported casualties and fatalities.
