Violence in Manipur: Leader of Various Political Parties to Meet Amit Shah in Guwahati Today

National Desk, 25 May: The newest development in Manipur’s violent state is that numerous MLAs who support the Biren Singh administration are camped out in Guwahati in preparation for a May 25 meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

According to reports, the Speaker is leading the all-party delegates who are in attendance to learn about the state’s current position.

The BJP, the NPP party led by Meghalaya’s chief minister Conrad Sangma and two members of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), one a minister have all arrived in Guwahati, reports emerged.

Additionally, the political team which consists of 15 MLAs will meet with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Guwahati this evening. The group includes state cabinet minister L Susindro Meitei.

Meanwhile, thousands of Kuki protesters reiterated on May 24 at Saparmeina village not to promote peace before a solution in order to obtain the Central Government’s prompt action.

After a similar demonstration was staged in Keithelmanbi village and Kangpokpi town, a sit-in protest was organized today in Saparmeina village in the Kangpokpi district calling for prompt action from the Central Government and a solution based on political engagement between the UPF, KNO and the Governments.

A thousand protesters forcefully urged the Government and its apparatus not to negotiate or start any peace process before any solution was found, according to the Kukis’ unanimity on the matter.
