Gaurav Gogoi Criticizes Railway Minister and Calls for Parliament Building Review
National Desk, 2nd August: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has launched a scathing critique against Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, dubbing him the “derailment minister.” Gogoi highlighted the alarming number of train derailments in the past two years, noting that four goods trains have derailed in the last two months alone. He further emphasized that Vaishnaw should have resigned in the wake of the tragic Balasore incident, which resulted in the deaths of around 300 people.
Simultaneously, Gogoi, who is also Congress’ deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, has called for a comprehensive review of the new Parliament building’s design, construction, and facilities. He expressed his hope that the views of all major political parties will be considered in this process.
“The design, construction, and facilities within the new Indian Parliament need to be reviewed. There is much to be done for it to reflect the greatest traditions of Indian parliamentary democracy,” Gogoi stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “The Parliament belongs to the people of India and not to one party or one individual. I hope that the views of all major parties will be taken in due time.”
Gogoi’s comments follow recent criticisms from Opposition leaders regarding water leakage issues in the new Parliament building, raising concerns about its readiness and structural integrity.
