Girls from Assam forced into Prostitution in Kerala?
Guwahati: Nine girls from Assam were rescued by the Hojai Police from a human trafficking racket in Kerala.
These girls hail from Hojai, Sonitpur, Nagaon, Morigaon, and Kamrup (R). The operation to rescue the girls started with a specific input about an alleged human trafficking racket. The operation started on July 13 and with the operation going on, the police succeeded in saving the girls from the racket.
On investigation, it was found that girls from different districts of Assam were being trafficked to Thampanoor in Kerala. All the girls were allegedly taken to Kerala with a promise of giving them jobs in various sectors. However, on reaching Kerala, all the girls were allegedly forced into prostitution.
With the inputs being sent to the Assam Police, an operation was launched with the help of the Kerala Police. It was reported that the police tracked the phone signal of two accused who had allegedly lured the girl to Kerala with the promise of giving them jobs.
Police apprehended two-person in Kerala having a connection in this matter, and they brought them back to Assam namely Muffazul Haque of Hojai and Rakibul Hussain of Nagaon.
