COVID Pandemic: Rs 2.5 Lakh to 32 Widows in Biswanath
Guwahati: Information and Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika who also happens to be the Guardian Minister for the Biswanath district launching the Chief Minister’s COVID 19 Widows Support Scheme handed over cheques worth Rs 2.5 lakh each to 32 widows who lost their husbands due to the COVID-19.
Pijush Hazarika said, “Even though the government cannot compensate their loss, yet this one-time financial assistance will help the widows to lead a life of dignity.”
He added, “Our Chief Minister has the vision to make Assam among the top 5 states of the country and we are moving well in that direction.”
The Chief Minister’s Widow Support Scheme comes close on the heels of the launch of the Sishu Seva Scheme where financial assistance will be provided to children who have lost their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
