Golaghat: Assam CM Inaugurates 14 Projects Worth Rs 1,500 Cr

Guwahati: The foundation stones for up to 14 projects totaling more than Rs 1,500 crore were laid on Friday by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. These projects have the potential to drastically change the upper Assam district and make it one of the most progressive districts in the State.

He was in the Golaghat area for a full day.

The Birangana Sati Sadhini State University, for which a sum of Rs 62 crore as the first tranche has been sanctioned, the infrastructure for Golaghat Medical College at Bogorijeng, to be built at a cost of Rs 631 crore, the Integrated Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, to be built at a cost of Rs 49 crore, the construction of a mini stadium named after Lovlina Borgohain, to be built at a cost of Rs 11 crore, and

Along with these, the Chief Minister has officially launched road construction projects totaling up to Rs 500 crore.

The Chief Minister expressed optimism that the 14 projects unveiled today would be able to substantially fulfil the ambitions of the district’s citizens while speaking to a crowd of onlookers at Samannay Khsetra in Golaghat town.

He promised the general people that all projects would be finished on time.

“The construction of the medical college at Bogorijeng would be completed by 2026,” the Chief Minister added.

He further stated that a total of Rs 250 crore would be spent on the Birangana Sati Sadhini State University. “The Rs 62 crore is the first tranche of that Rs 250 crore,” he added.

According to Sarma, the procedure for selecting the faculty for the planned institution of higher learning has already started.

According to the Chief Minister, once the integrated DC office complex is complete, the public will have access to all of the departments in one location, which will relieve them of the burden of visiting all of the district’s government buildings.

Referring to Golaghat as the birthplace of great freedom fighters and patriots such as Kushal Konwar and Jintu Gogoi, among others, the Chief Minister said it was his moral obligation to ensure this historic district is able to reach the peak of development and growth on all fronts.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the various initiatives of the current regime in the State aimed at poverty alleviation and socio-economic uplift of the disadvantaged sections.

He stated that 30,000 more Golaghat beneficiaries would be included in the Orunodoi plan soon. He urged farmers who cultivate paddy to take advantage of the government’s paddy procurement programme.

The Chief Minister also discussed Mission Bhumiputra and Mission Basundhara 2.0.

The Chief Minister met with the female paddy farmers for an open-sky lunch after visiting Rahdhola Pathar earlier in the day.

The Chief Minister also paid a visit to the Hemo Prova Borbora Girls’ College and spoke with some of the students there.

He urged the students to take advantage of the chances that a brand-new, revitalised India has to offer in order to contribute to the process of nation-building.

Assam Cabinet Ministers Ajanta Neog, Nandita Garlosa, Keshab Mahanta, and Atul Bora, as well as Legislative Assembly members Biswajit Phukan, Bhaben Bharali, and Mrinal Saikia, accompanied the Chief Minister.
