Guwahati: A large amount of gold has been seized by Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday.
Moreover, one person has also been arrested in connection to it.
Based suspicion and specific inputs regarding smuggling of gold, the GRP officials conducted a search operation at Guwahati Railway Station.
Upon searching, around 320 grams of gold was seized from the suspected smuggler at the railway station.
The arrestee identified as Sampat Rao.
The market value of the seized gold is estimated to be Rs 20 lakh.
It is learned that the gold was being smuggled to the national capital from Agartala but was intercepted in Guwahati.
A case has been registered at GRP Guwahati in connection with this.
