Guwahati: The establishment of a new zoo in the Dibrugarh district was announced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday.
CM Sarma stated that the zoo will have trains and battery-powered vehicles when touring the Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden with a group of G20 observers.
He said, “Special arrangements will be made for senior citizens. The zoo will have varieties of trees and bamboo parks.”
He added that special precautions had been taken, and concern had been given to the comfort of the animals.
Moreover, he indicated that anyone may pay the cost of any animals if they so desired.
CM Sarma emphasised that modern zoos lack the natural setting as they once did.
“There are many ways to make our zoo attractive to attract tourists,” he said.
Meanwhile, CM Sarma said that at least five meeting of G20 summit will be held in the state.
