Sikkim CM lays Capital University foundation stone 

Digital Desk: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang laid the foundation stone for the Capital University in Zoom, Soreng District.

The projected Capital University will be built on 13 acres and offer multidisciplinary courses and academic pursuits to students. Officials from Capital University also gave a thorough explanation of the initiative to the group.

The programme began with a bhumi puja, after which the chief minister set the cornerstone. Khagendra Rai, a zilla member of the SDZP then gave a welcome speech.

A two minutes silence was also observed as a mark of respect for Mohan Kr. Rai, Advisor (SBS) who had passed away recently. 

Bina Rai commended the state government and the chief minister for taking this historic step in advancing Zoom’s development and the people for whom it represents a glimmer of hope for their ability to support themselves.

 The chief minister was accompanied by deputy speaker Sangay Lepcha;  minister (RDD) Sonam Lama; minister (IPR)  B. S. Pant;  minister (Transport) Sanjeet Kharel; minister (PHE)  Bhim Hang Limboo; minister (Power) Shri. M. N. Sherpa; minister (PWD)  Samdup Lepcha; political secretary Jacob Khaling; Sunita Gajmer, MLA (Zoom-Salghari);  K. S. Lepcha, MLA (Kaluk-Rinchenpong); advisors, chairpersons, government officers and public.
