Goods Train Carrying LPG Derails in Madhya Pradesh

National desk, 7 June: A few days after the triple train accident in Odisha’s Balasore, a massive incident was averted in Madhya Pradesh after two LPG Rake wagons derailed while being set up for unloading during the early hours of Wednesday.

According to reports, the incident occurred near a Bharat Petroleum depot in the Shahpura Bhitoni area of the Jabalpur district.

Reportedly, two LPG rakes derailed as the goods train was about to empty the rakes in the factory near the main gate of the Bharat Petroleum unit. During the process, the coaches of the train derailed off the track.

After the incident, train authorities rushed to the spot late at night and oversaw the repair operations.

Meanwhile, a case has been reported to Shahpura’s Bhitoni station.

Earlier, several coaches on the 12864 Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express derailed and fell on a nearby track in Balasore, Odisha. The derailed carriages were struck by the 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express which was travelling in the opposite direction on a similar track. A few Coromandel Express coaches lost control and collided with the third track’s halted freight train.

Over 900 people were injured in the terrible train accident that occurred on the night of June 2 and nearly 300 people lost their lives. Around 7 o’clock in the evening, the train collision which according to records is the fourth deadliest in India occurred near the Bahanaga Baazar station in the Balasore district roughly 250 kilometres south of Kolkata and 170 kilometres north of Bhubaneswar.
