Guwahati: The Axis Bank deputy manager in Guwahati of Assam has been apprehended on suspicion of fraud.
The bank manager has been identified as Iftikon Haque Choudhury.
Iftikon was detained for allegedly utilising the ATM card passwords of clients to steal money from their bank accounts in a very subtle manner.
According to reports, Iftikon was working at the HDFC bank branch on Zoo Road at the time of the incident.
They allegedly utilised ATM cards that were issued in consumers’ names.
Iftikon had already used Rs 1, 75,000 from several ATM cards.
On the basis of the complaints submitted by the consumers, the Geetanagar Police arrested the fraudster on Monday.
Iftikon has agreed to all of the accusations made against him and is currently being questioned by the police.
