Guwahati, 6th December: The Assam Police’s special task force (STF) in an operation carried out on Wednesday apprehended a man who is accused of engaging in the sale of counterfeit gold items in Guwahati.
The arrestee has been identified as Dilwar Hussain, aged 30 and a resident of Bihpuria in Lakhimpur, was arrested in the Bhangagarh area near the TV Tower.
At the time of his apprehension, Hussain was found in possession of over a kilogram of counterfeit gold items.
Upon conducting a search, the STF seized 1.485 kilograms of suspected fake gold, Rs 770 in cash, and a mobile phone from Hussain.
Legal proceedings against him have been initiated.
