Guwahati: Authorities in Guwahati’s Panikhaiti area ordered 16 families to leave their homes on Sunday due to the risk of landslides after torrential rains pounded numerous districts of Assam.
According to the Chandrapur revenue circle, heavy landslides were expected in the area and locals were warned to leave their homes.
Meanwhile, the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district government issued a notice to residents of various landslide-prone districts of Guwahati on Saturday, requesting that they relocate to safer places.
Assam has been experiencing catastrophic flooding and landslides since the previous 10 days.
