Guwahati: Heroin Seized From Jalukbari Flat; One Held

Guwahati: In its continued effort to make Assam a drug-free state, a huge quantity of illicit drugs worth around Rs 1 crore has been seized by the Guwahati Police on Tuesday morning from Jalukbari.

Based on specific input, Guwahati police raided a flat located at Tetelia in Jalukbari area of the city.

During the search, 22 soap boxes of heroin packed were recovered.

Moreover, a peddler was also arrested during the operation.

The peddler has been identified as Alom Ali.

According to reports, Alom tried to make a run for it but was unsuccessfully.

Police searched him and recovered unaccounted cash worth Rs 51,490 from his possession.

Alom is reportedly a part of a big drug trafficking organisation that operates in and around Guwahati city. He revealed that a man in Meghayala had given him the drugs, which he was meant to sell in Assam.

Moreover, an Alto car with the registration number “AS01 EH 9902” was seized from his possession, and multiple number plates were found on it.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed under the NDPS Act against the alleged peddler.

An investigation to unearth further linkages is on.
