Guwahati: Guwahati Police seized a huge quantity of drugs in the city and arrested one suspected drug peddler from the Katabari area on Tuesday.
The arrestee identified as 30-year-old Pappu Giri who is a resident of Sitamari in Bihar.
A West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) from Gorchuk police station launched an operation and arrested the accused late last night.
During the operation the police recovered 49.76 grams of heroin stuffed inside four soap cases from the accused.
Meanwhile, legal proceedings have been initiated against Giri and further investigation is underway.
Guwahati Police sharing the news on Twitter wrote, “The WGPD Spl Squad arrested one Pappu Giri (30) of Sitamari, Bihar & recovered 4 soap cases filled with a total of 49.76 gms of Heroin from his possession at Katabari under Gorchuk PS yesterday. Legal action has been initiated.”
