Guwahati: A travel agency owner who borrowed cars from a number of people and then sold them to others was arrested by the Dispur Police on Monday.
According to reports, the accused have been identified as Rishi Rajkhowa hailing from Kamrup was apprehended as a result of complaints made by car owners who rented their vehicles to the owner.
Rajkhowa was the owner of Gear Up Agency.
After giving the vehicles for rent, the cars began to vanish from the company. After learning that their cars were starting to disappear, the owners complained to the Dispur Police Station.
The police subsequently began a search operation across the state during which they found up to 10 cars in Nagaon, Morigaon and other places.
The police discover that the automobiles which the owner claimed were missing were purportedly sold off to other people in numerous locations across the state after opening an investigation into the missing vehicles complaint.
