Hailstorm Ravages Sangau Town, Mizoram: Houses Destroyed, Roads Blocked
Northeast Desk, 2nd April: Sangau town in Mizoram’s southern district of Lawngtlai was struck by a massive hailstorm around 3 PM on Tuesday, resulting in the destruction of several houses.
The hailstorm wreaked havoc on numerous houses, including various government quarters with tin roofs, although the exact number of affected houses is yet to be determined.
In some localities of the town, the hailstorm blocked several roads, causing traffic jams. Additionally, several hailstones penetrated the residences of H. Lalremruata and H. Tialira of Bazar Vengthar Kawn locality, prompting volunteers from the Young Lai Association (YLA) to assist in clearing up the affected houses.
Reports indicate that some hailstones were as large as an egg, causing significant damage, including the destruction of dish antennas belonging to local TV channels.
