Harayana: Former CM Om Prakash Chautala convicted in corruption case

Guwahati: The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi convicted former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala guilty of excessive assets on Saturday.

According to reports, the court will hear arguments about the severity of the punishment on May 26.

It is worth mentioning that the Central Bureau of Investigation charged OP Chautala on March 26, 2010 with acquiring assets worth Rs 6.09 crore between 1993 and 2006 that were disproportionate to his legal income.

A Delhi court charged OP Chautala with money laundering in connection with the disproportionate assets case in January 2021.

After being found guilty of corruption in a teacher recruitment fraud in 2013, OP Chautala and his son Ajay were sentenced to ten years in jail. The 87-year-old OP Chautala was released from prison in July 2021.
