Health Minister: RTPCR test mandatory for flyers from China & five other nations

Guwahati: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on December 30 said RT-PCR tests to detect Covid-19 infections will be required for travellers arriving from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand.

“RT-PCR test has been made mandatory for flyers coming from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand from January 1, 2023. They will have to upload their reports on the Air Suvidha portal before travel,” the Health Minister tweeted.

According to data released on December 29, the number of coronavirus infections in India increased to 268 while the number of active cases increased to 3,552.

The overall number of Covid cases involved was 4.46 crore (4.46,77,915), and the most recent statistics revealed that two fatalities had occurred on the previous day, one from Kerala and one from Maharashtra.

The weekly positivity rate was 0.17 percent, and the daily positivity rate was 0.11 percent, according to the ministry.

The national capital had 11 new Covid cases in the past 24 hours with a case positive rate of 0.29 percent.

On the other hand, Mizoram has opted not to implement COVID-19 limitations at this time as the state has not reported any new cases in the last 17 days.

The decision was made following a meeting with Chief Secretary Renu Sharma and health officials to discuss the COVID situation in the state.

The state has not reported any COVID instances for 17 days starting on December 13 and no Omicron BF, therefore there was no need at the time for restrictions, and it was observed during the conference.

There were 7 variant infections found.
