Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, a massive quantity of heroin has been seized by Assam Police in Hailakandi district.
This was informed by officials on Sunday.
Based on specific input, a team of Jamira Police conducted an anti-narcotics operation at Hailakandi along the Assam-Mizoram state border.
During the operation, a large quantity of heroin was seized.
Hailakandi Police also seized a vehicle involved in smuggling the drugs during the raid.
The market value of the seized drugs is estimated to be worth around Rs 1 crore.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that the criminals engaged in the smuggling attempt fled from the control of Hailakandi Police.
Officials said that a search for them had been launched and assured that they will be caught in due time.
