Guwahati: A home guard was found selling drugs on Thursday in Khanapara area of Guwahati after which locals handed him over to the police officials.
The home guard was reportedly caught red-handed while selling drugs. Angered by the scenes, locals took it upon themselves to teach him a lesson.
He was thrashed by a group of locals before being given to the Meghalaya Police.
Later on police officials identified him as Benudhar Bodo.
According to police, the home guard official was alongside another drugs peddler and both were taken into custody. Large quantities of drugs were also seized from his possession by officials.
Benudhar Bodo worked at the Dispur Police Station in Guwahati as a house guard jawan. According to reports, he was a police informant who hung out with criminals to obtain information for the police.
However, it’s suspected that the allure of drug money was too great for him to resist, and he succumbed to the criminal lifestyle.
