Huge Loss to Property after Storm hits Guwahati City

Guwahati: A severe thunderstorm that slammed Guwahati, Assam, on Sunday evening caused extensive property damage in the Basistha area.

A giant Sal tree fell on a city bus stopped on the side of the road near the Basistha temple as a result of the storm. The city bus had been entirely obliterated.

Abhijit Kalita owned the bus with the registration number AS01 GC9144.

Meanwhile, Haren Sharma’s car, with the registration number AS01BV 2993, has been damaged.

Aside from that, the storm has destroyed the front side of a local resident’s house, Hemanta Kashyap’s.

The tree was specifically located on the grounds of the forest department building in Basistha. The highway between Basistha Chariali and Basishta temple has been shut down totally.

According to locals, these kinds of occurrences have occurred as a result of forest service incompetence.

“There has been a massive loss of property as a result of the storm,” a local resident stated. A large tree crashed on a city bus, a car, and a house, destroying them.”

“The forest department is to blame.” We had encouraged the forest department to take action to clear the old and massive trees that lined the Basistha Road. When storms attack the city, they are a source of anxiety,” he continued.
