Husband Denies Knowledge of Political Pressure in BJP Leader’s Death Case

Guwahati, 16th August: The husband of the deceased Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kisan Morcha Secretary, Indrani Tahbildar, has denied any knowledge of political pressure or intimidation that might have led to her tragic death. This statement comes after the prime accused, Anurag Chaliha, claimed during police questioning that Indrani had faced political pressure from Abhimanyu Das, who allegedly leaked the intimate pictures that eventually led to her suicide.

Ritesh Tahbildar, Indrani Tahbildar’s husband, addressed reporters at the Chandmari Police Station in Guwahati. He mentioned that Anurag Chaliha, seen in the objectionable photograph with his wife, was residing on rent with Indrani’s parents.

“I had Anurag Chaliha’s name on the FIR. I’m not familiar with the other people he mentioned. The police are in charge of carrying out the inquiry. She never mentioned political pressure to me, although I am aware that it exists occasionally.” said Ritesh Tahbildar.

He explained that he was not involved in politics and had no knowledge of these matters. Ritesh Tahbildar revealed that he was out of town and in Kolkata for work on the day of Indrani Tahbildar’s suicide.

Anurag Chaliha, who was apprehended by Guwahati Police and Sivasagar Police, had pleaded innocence during his interrogation, shifting the blame to Abhimanyu Das. Chaliha’s confession alleged that Abhimanyu Das physically and mentally harassed Indrani and blackmailed her. He claimed that Abhimanyu sought to pressure Indrani into withdrawing her candidacy for the Barpeta constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Chaliha also revealed that Abhimanyu aimed to secure the position of President of Barpeta Kisan Morcha.
