Icon of Indian Cinema Lata Mangeshkar Passes away at 92
Guwahati: The legendary singer and the icon of the Indian Cinema Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last at the age of 92 in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Sunday.
According to reports, Lata Mangeshkar was taken to the intensive care unit on Tuesday after testing Covid-19 positive. The hospital informed that she died due to multiorgan failure at around 8.12 am on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the government has announced two-day national mourning in memory of the queen of melodies.
And also, the national flag will be flown at half-mast for two days, as a mark of respect, and will be given a state funeral.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences over the demise of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and said that she leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled.
In a series of tweets, PM Modi said that the singer has always wanted to see a strong and developed India.
PM further said that his interactions with Lata Mangeshkar will remain unforgettable.
It may be mentioned that Lata Mangeshkar’s mortal remains will be carried to her home Prabhu Kunj and Her mortal will be kept at her home till 3 PM for people to pay respect. Around 4 PM her mortal remains will be taken to Shivaji Park where her last rites will be performed.
Besides PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, President of India, Ram Nath Kovind expresses their grief over the greatest loss to India.
Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has also visited the legendary singer and expressed grief over the loss.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Mumbai late afternoon at around 4.30 pm to pay his respects to Lata Mangeshkar
