Identification documents mandatory for visitors in Meghalaya
After Months of lockdowns, Meghalaya Government reopened the State tate for the tourists, reviving back the Tourism Sector which has been facing a closure since the lockdown. Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma had announced the reopening of the much-sought tourist destination in the North-East from the 21st of December, 2020. Though the State Government is planning to reopen the State for Tourists, there are some Guidelines which Tourists visiting from outside the State have to follow.
Visitors of Meghalaya will have to Register or produce identification documents at the Entry point at Umling in the Ri-Bhoi District from December 21. Those documents of entering the State will be checked at the facilitation Centre. Visitors can also Register online and upload necessary documents to prove their identity. As per reports, a direct flight between Shillong-New Delhi-Shillong will also begin from December 21.
