Incidents of Theft at Four Places in Guwahati Within 24 Hours
Guwahati: Four incidents of thefts have come to light in the last 24 hours in Guwahati amidst the festivities of Bihu going on all around.
Two incidents of theft took place in two houses at the same place in Kahilipara Narakasura. Taking advantage of the absence of people in the house, thieves looted the houses of two persons named Raju Sharma and Niran Konwar.
Similarly the thieves looted many valuables including cash and jewellery on the occasion of no one in the house of a person named Amarjit Sharma in Japarigog area. Additionally, the thieves even cut down the water taps.
On the other hand, two thieves who had come on a scooty snatched a women’s bag along with a mobile phone.
As per reports, the women have been identified as Chandana Kalita in Beltala Chandan Nagar when she was on her way out for work at 7.10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The incident was recorded on CCTV footage.
The woman was caught off guard and tried to resist but was unsuccessful. Reportedly, the woman had important documents, cash and her mobile phone in the purse.
Fortunately, the woman was unharmed during the ordeal.
The harrowing incident has created a sense of terror among locals who have urged the police to act swiftly against these malefactors.
Thus, four incidents of theft took place in different parts of the city from Friday night to Saturday morning. So far the police have not been able to get any clues to these thefts that took place within 24 hours.
