India: 227 Fresh COVID Cases in Past 24 Hours

Guwahati: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) announced this on Sunday that in the past 24 hours 227 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in India.

India has vaccinated a total of 220.05 crore people against COVID-19. The Nationwide Vaccination Drive has so far provided 95.12 crore second doses and 22.36 crore precaution doses. In the previous 24 hours, 1,11,304 dosages were provided in India.

3,424 instances are now active in India which is less than 0.01% of all cases.

The Health Ministry reported that the nationwide COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.8%.

The number of recovered patients (from the start of the pandemic) reached 4,41,42,989 on Sunday with 198 people recovering in the previous 24 hours.

The weekly positivity rate is 0.14 percent compared to the daily positivity rate of 0.18 percent.

A total of 1,29,159 COVID-19 tests were performed over the past 24 hours. According to officials, India has performed over 90.99 billion total tests to date.

Following the COVID alarm due to an increase in infections in many nations, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday agreed to undertake simulated drills at all healthcare facilities nationwide on December 27.

This is to guarantee preparation in the event of a spike in COVID cases in India, as well as the availability of oxygen assistance and ICU beds, among other preparedness measures.

The Ministry states that the exercise’s goal is to make sure these healthcare facilities are operationally prepared for the management of COVID.
