India Beat Australia In Second Test To Take 2-0 Series Lead

Guwahati: India defeated Australia for the second time in a row to take a 2-0 series lead in the Tests on Sunday. India entered the game having won the first Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy handily, and they kept up their winning ways to capture another victory.

Usman Khawaja scored 81 runs, and Peter Handscomb added 72, as Australia scored 263 runs in the first inning. India could only muster 262 runs in response in the first innings with the help of Axar Patel’s best score of 74 runs.

As it appeared that India’s inability to take a lead in the first innings might come back to haunt them, Australia entered the field to bat in the second innings with a one-run advantage. Unfortunately, India was dispatched by Australia in the second innings for a pitiful total of 113 runs due to weak batting from Australia and Ravindra Jadeja bowling in the form of his life.

In order to win the series for the second time in a row, India simply needed to score 115 runs, which the men in blue did with ease.

In the game, Ravindra Jadeja extended his successful streak for India, taking 10 wickets, seven of which came in the second innings. Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Peter Handscomb, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, and Matthew Kuhnemann were among the wickets that Jadeja stole in the second innings. Jadeja was assisted by fellow spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who took the final three victims.

In the second innings, Australia might have scored 113 runs but lost four wickets for 95 runs. India won the game on the third day after chasing down the target with the loss of just four wickets. This victory follows a victory against Australia in the first Test match by an innings and 132 runs.
