India deliver two tonnes of medicines to Kabul Hospital
Guwahati: India has provided a significant shipment of medications to Afghanistan on Friday. The humanitarian aid, which included two tonnes of “critical life-saving” pharmaceuticals, was delivered to Kabul’s Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital.
In a press statement, the Ministry of External Affairs stated, “India remains dedicated to continuing our special connection with the people of Afghanistan and providing humanitarian assistance to them.”
However, India has provided humanitarian aid to Taliban-ruled Afghanistan three times since December. Before this, India supplied two batches of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, beginning on December 11. Half a million doses of Covaxin were airlifted to the Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital on January 1. In the coming weeks, a similar shipment of Covid-19 vaccination will be flown to Kabul.
According to Friday’s announcement, India is working on providing a substantial shipment of wheat to Afghanistan in the near future. The food aid will be sent to Afghanistan via a transit route through Pakistan. Islamabad has indicated support for the proposal, and authorities claim that discussions about the operation’s modalities are currently taking place among all parties involved.
