India Take On Australia In 1st T20 Match At Mohali

Guwahati: India will play Australia in a three-match T20 series starting on Tuesday at the Punjab Cricket Association I S Bindra Stadium in Mohali in an effort to find the optimum playing eleven ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Selectors chose nearly the same roster for the T20 World Cup 2022 to be played later this year in Australia despite concerns regarding the team’s performance in the just ended Asia Cup 2022.

Today’s game will be the opening of a three-match series, and Rohit Sharma will serve as the team’s captain. The selectors and head coach Rahul Dravid have not yet resorted to panicking as a result of the team’s disappointing performance in the Asia Cup.

However, with the World Cup approaching, addressing the issues raised at the Asia Cup will be a priority. Prior to the start of the main event, India will play Australia and South Africa.

Aaron Finch the captain will lead an evenly matched Australian team into the series.

With regard to team selection, the top order of Rohit Sharma, K L Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav is the favourite, with Hardik Pandya serving as a starter as well.

With both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik in excellent form, the wicket-keeping position will be up for grabs, offering selectors a headache of the good kind.

While Ravindra Jadeja was injured and unable to play in the Asia Cup, Pant was also given a chance to make the team. Karthik was the fan favourite.

The main problem India had during their Asia Cup campaign was their bowling lineup, which repeatedly fell flat. Now that Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are both back in the mix, the team will try to address the trouble spot.

With everything out there, the match between India and Australia will undoubtedly be fierce and serve as a true test for the men in blue’s World Cup aspirations.
