International Yoga Day 2023 : PM to lead International Day of Yoga from UN Headquarters
Guwahati, June 17, 2023: Union Minister for Ayush, Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the United Nations Headquarters in New York as the main attraction on the occasion of the upcoming International Yoga Day.
The main event of this year’s International Yoga Day in India will be held on 21 June in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankar , Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Ayush and Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and many other dignitaries will lead the mass yoga demonstration.
“This year’s theme for International Yoga Day 2023 ‘Yoga for the Vasudeva Family’ aptly describes our collective aspiration. That is, One World, One Family, One Future. The Vasudeva Family has been Indian since time immemorial I sincerely hope that through the practice of yoga, the global human community will be able to find solutions to the various health challenges of today.
This year’s International Yoga Day will witness many unique features like ‘Oceanring Yoga’, where Indian Navy ships will participate in the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) demonstration in nine ports around the world CYP will be displayed in countries with which it has signed Memoranda of Understanding.
‘Yogasana from Arctic to Antarctica’ is another notable feature where the Ministry of External Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of Health will conduct CYP in UN Member States as well as the Prime Meridian Line and surrounding countries.
The ‘Yogasana in the North Pole and South Pole’ will be conducted by the Ministry of Geosciences in coordination with the Indian Research Base Himadri in the Arctic and the Indian Research Base in Antarctica.
The ‘Yoga Bharatamala’ is conceived in such a way that the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force along with ITBP, BSF and BRO will jointly conduct a series of yoga demonstrations.
