International Flights to resume From March 27
Guwahati: Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia informed Rajya Sabha on Monday that international passenger flights will resume at full capacity by March 27.
The statement came during Question Hour, as the Upper House convened for the second half of the Budget Session.
“As the coronavirus situation in India has improved, all regular foreign flights will run at full capacity by March 27,” Scindia added.
All international planned flights were prohibited for a week beginning March 23, 2020. Due of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ban lasted over two years.
Special international flights were flying between India and roughly 35 other nations under the air bubble during this time.
It may be mentioned that the resumption of international flights will significantly enhance international tourism while also assisting in the softening of airfares, which have been skyrocketing due to an increase in crude oil prices.
The administration had planned to resume international flights on March 15, but the war between Russia and Ukraine caused a delay, according to Scindia.
“The government of India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India from March 27,” according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, “after having recognised the enhanced vaccine coverage around the globe and in collaboration with stakeholders.”
Airline businesses will be relieved by the decision since they would be able to operate aircraft on longer routes, resulting in higher asset utilisation.
Their revenue earned per seat can also be improved as fares are higher on international sectors than on domestic routes.
