The Sport Ministry has decided to re-develop Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi for its proper utilisation. The government has proposed approximately Rs 8,000 crore for makeover of the iconic stadium in the national capital.
In the government document it was added that ” overarching objective is to promote the holistic development of the stadium complex so that the venue can host the Olympics and other international multi-sport events in the future”. After the stadium is refurbished it will have a 3-5 star accommodation facility, more training facilities and convention centres. The indicative cost of the project is around Rs 7,853 crore.
