Jitendra Chaudhury Re-Elected as CPI(M) Tripura Secretary, 61-Member State Committee Formed
Agartala: Jitendra Chaudhury has been re-elected as the secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Tripura unit, with a newly constituted 61-member state committee set to lead the party for the next three years.
The decision was announced at the conclusion of the party’s 24th state conference, which took place over three days starting January 29.
Senior party leader Pabitra Kar confirmed the unanimous re-election of Chaudhury, who also serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Tripura Assembly.
The newly formed committee includes six women members, reflecting the party’s commitment to gender representation in its leadership.
As part of the state conference, the CPI(M) organized a large rally, where veteran leader Prakash Karat and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar addressed supporters.
Chaudhury expressed gratitude for the party’s continued trust in his leadership, stating that his priority remains strengthening the party and restoring democracy in Tripura.
In preparation for the state conference, the CPI(M) had completed its internal restructuring process at various levels, including branch, local, divisional, and district committees.
The party currently operates over 4,000 branch committees, 300 local panels, 24 divisional bodies, and eight district panels across Tripura.
With the new state committee in place, the CPI(M) aims to strategize for upcoming political challenges, focusing on grassroots mobilization and opposition to the ruling dispensation in the state.
