J&K: Mortal Remains of Martyred Jawans Reach Native Village

Guwahati: The mortal remains of all five Indian Army jawans who lost their lives in the grenade attack in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir were transported to their home villages on Saturday.

Lance Naik Debashish Baswal’s mortal remains who were martyred in the tragic terrorist assault arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) today where they were greeted with a guard of honour. BJP leader Sambit Patra, Odisha Minister Ashok Chandra Panda and other individuals placed wreaths in tribute of martyred jawan Baswal.

Lance Naik Kulwant Singh’s mortal remains were sent to his hometown of Chadik village in Punjab’s Moga where he was honoured with a brave homage.

The mortal remains of Sepoy Harkrishan Singh were brought to his home village in Gurdaspur.

Soldier Sepoy Sewak Singh’s mortal remains were sent to his home village in Bathinda’s Talwandi Sabo subdivision.

Meanwhile, Havildar Mandeep Singh’s mortal remains were transported to his home village in the Ludhiana district’s Chankoian Kalan.

It should be noted that on April 20, unidentified terrorists opened fire on an Army vehicle travelling between Bhimber Gali and Poonch in the Rajouri sector. Five members of the Rashtriya Rifles Unit who had been stationed here for counterterrorism operations lost their lives in the incident.

Another critically injured soldier was transported right away to the Army Hospital in Rajouri where he is receiving medical treatment.

Indian Army started a thorough search operation on Friday to find the militants responsible for the grenade attack. According to the Army, drones and sniffer dogs were employed to find any terrorists who might be lurking in the region.

Reportedly, Multiple Special Forces were rushed to the region to assist with search and destroy operations. The actions are being coordinated by the security forces which include the Army, Police and Intelligence Agencies.
