Guwahati: The Karbi Anglong police seized a large stockpile of rifles and ammunition and arrested five people along the Assam-Nagaland border in Karbi Anglong on Friday.
According to reports, a joint squad of Karbi Anglong police and 5 Assam Rifles based in Dimapur apprehended a Gypsy car in the Naharjan district of Nagaland and discovered three AK 56 rifles with 75 rounds of ammunition and a handgun with eight rounds of ammunition.
The five occupants of the vehicle, Akhui Kashung, Ngmpoi, Wungreingam, Ashang Chithung, and Lanchungrei Kamei, have all been arrested. A case has been filed under section 120(B) of the IPC R/W Sec. 25(1-A) of the Arms Act, and a thorough investigation is underway.
