Nagaland: CM in Delhi to meet Amit Shah and others

Guwahati: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio reached Delhi to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and others on Thursday.

State chief minister Neiphiu Rio arrived in Delhi on Thursday afternoon to meet Union home minister Amit Shah and others.

Rio visited his Assam counterpart, Himanta Biswa Sarma, at the Delhi airport, where the two chief ministers had a brief chat before Sarma boarded the same chartered airplane that took Rio from Dimapur to Guwahati. Rio had earlier informed that Amit Shah had invited both him and Sarma to travel to Delhi to discuss some problems related to the Naga political crisis, but it was unclear whether Sarma would return.

On Thursday, Rio met with Rajiv Bansal, secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Sanjeev Kumar, head of the Airports Authority of India. Rio announced this in a tweet, saying he had talked with the two officials about the Ciethu airport in Kohima.

When Muivah arrives in Dimapur, he says: “NSCN (I-M) ato kilonser Th. Muivah landed in Dimapur on Thursday morning after nearly two months in Delhi to undertake consultations with the government.”

The NSCN (I-M) chief arrived in Dimapur on a leased jet and then took a chopper to Hebron CHQ. According to sources, the majority of the NSCN (I-M) leaders have also returned to Nagaland for the holidays.
