Guwahati: A well-known highland resort in Jammu and Kashmir avalanche in the popular hill station of Sonamarg, on Thursday.
The avalanche was reportedly recorded close to the Baltal region which is located in the Ganderbal district.
Officials said they found a labourer’s body from under the debris and are expecting another body as suggested by the mobile tracker system.
It should be noted that recent snowfall in Kashmir’s higher valley regions has caused the nighttime temperature to rise above freezing.
While Qazigund recorded a low of 1.6 degrees Celsius, Srinagar’s temperature was estimated to be around 3 degrees.
Gulmarg in the Baramulla district had a low of minus 3 degrees Celsius while Pahalgam in the Anantnag district recorded a low of – 0.3 degrees Celsius.
