KNF cadres arrested in Manipur

Guwahati: Three suspected cadres of the Kuki National Front (KNF, Nehlun) were arrested in a joint operation by the Manipur Police and Assam Rifles for their alleged involvement in the murder case in Manipur on Monday.

The police identified the cadres as Seiloulun Singsit, Henminlun Misao alias Kevin, and Hentinseh Singsit.

According to reports, the incident took place on 12 October where four civilians including a minor were killed and two were left injured after the suspected insurgents started firing on a group of people attending a condolence service at the B Gamnom village of Kangpokpi district.

The police informed that the cadres also disclosed their involvement under the command of self-styled Chairman of the KNF, James Kipgen, and Vice-Chairman Mangsat Haokip.

The arrested cadres were involved in extortion, kidnapping, and other crimes.

At least one 9mm Pistol loaded with a magazine with 5 (9mm) ammunition and another one .32 pistol, and a loaded magazine was recovered from the cadres by the police officials.

Further investigation into the matter is on to nab the other accused in the case.
