Lasith Malinga retires from franchise cricket
Sri Lankan first bowler Lasith Malinga has decided to take retirement from the franchise cricket at the age of 37. The Mumbai Indians Franchise of IPL was informed by Malinga about the decision to them earlier this month, making himself unavailable for the IPL champions’ retention wish list.
Lasith Malinga is the all-time leading wicket-taker in IPL history with 170 wickets to his name. Mumbai Indians co-owner Akash Ambani said “Lasith Malinga has been at the core of Mumbai Indians for 12 years. We respect his decision, even though I would have liked to him to be part of our bowling attack for another 5 years.
