Lockdown in Aizawl extended till July 31
Aizawl: The Government of Mizoram has extended the lockdown in Aizawl till July 31 as the cases related to the COVID-19 have been on the rise despite several preventive measures.
The lockdown was supposed to be lifted on Saturday but with cases being on the rise, the decision to withdraw the lockdown was rescheduled and the lockdown was extended till July 31.
The government claimed that the lockdown was extended as the positivity detection rate of the COVID-19 is extremely high. The extension was decided in order to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19.
However, essential services will continue to function normally. All shops except for essential commodities will remain closed.
It may be mentioned that on Friday, Mizoram reported around 847 new cases with a total of 7,559 cases still being active.
