Maharashtra MLA Bacchu Kadu: Send Street To Assam For Consumption

Guwahati: Omprakash Babarao Kadu, also known as Bacchu Kadu, a Maharashtra MLA made the strange declaration that all strays should be transported to Assam for consumption in an attempt to reduce the number of stray dogs in the state.

The leader of the Prahar Janshakti Party, Bacchu Kadu, claims that since people in Assam eat dogs, Maharashtra should give it some thought. The offensive remarks from Bacchu Kadu were made during a debate over the subject in the state assembly.

When MLAs Pratap Sarnaik and Atul Bhatkhalkar brought up the problem of stray dogs in the Maharashtra legislature for discussion, Bacchu Kadu remarked that it would be a good idea to deport all stray dogs from the state to Assam since people there would eat them.

Bacchu Kadu developed a plan of action to launch an experiment in one city and bring street dogs from there to Assam instead of organising a committee to investigate the issue as advised.

However, animal rights activists have criticised Bacchu Kadu’s offensive remarks, calling them cruel and terrible.

The people of Assam have criticised his remarks as absurd and unacceptable, and they have not received well.

It should be mentioned that Bacchu Kadu, who recently visited Assam, claimed to have learned that dogs are sold there for between 8,000 and 9,000 rupees, and he suggested contacting traders to discuss finding a solution to Maharasthra’s issue.

Animal rights advocates have urged that Bacchu Kadu be punished for his offensive remarks that support brutal practises. The Maharashtra government may decide to take action against Bacchu Kadu, but that is yet to be seen.

This comes as Bacchu Kadu was one of the MLAs in support of the present Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, whose entourage camped in Assam as they plotted to come to power in Maharashtra, last year.

Such remarks from Bacchu Kadu are undoubtedly repugnant in light of the supposed goodwill that has grown between the two republics.
